Adjust texture without losing track
Start with the basic preparation on the pack. If blending is allowed, try one optional addition at a time and note the amount. For a chocolate flavour, a small amount of banana may create a thicker texture; this is a serving idea, not a tested nutrition claim. Keep the original powder portion and account for added ingredients rather than calling the result nutritionally identical.
Prepare the portion shown on the pack
Check the scoop size, number of scoops and recommended liquid on your own pack. Measure rather than estimating a heaped scoop. Add ingredients in the order recommended, close the shaker fully and mix as directed. Changing water to milk or adding fruit changes the prepared drink, including its energy and allergen content.
Compare the prepared serving
Compare like with like: dry powder with dry powder, or prepared drink with prepared drink using the same liquid. Check both the serving column and the per-100-g or per-100-ml column. A larger scoop can make a product look higher in protein simply because the serving is larger. Write down preparation, serving size and the figures relevant to you before deciding.
Plan preparation and cleaning together
Use a clean shaker and follow the pack’s instructions for when to consume the prepared drink. Keep the dry scoop dry and close the powder container after use. If you prepare away from home, carry the dry portion separately until you can mix it as directed. Clean the lid, seal and mixing insert, then let them dry.
